Mid-Century Modern

Allendale

In the Allendale neighborhood, this project transforms a new construction site into a series of inviting, functional entertaining spaces that honor the reimagined mid-century architecture. A seamless path of lush, low-water Zoysia sod leads to a back studio, while crème Lueders pavers connect the kitchen and owner’s suite to an elegant patio.

A freestanding screen provides privacy for intimate gatherings, while a steel planter in the front yard creates separation from the short street setback, enhancing the home’s curb appeal. The front yard features a xeriscape design with pea gravel and dynamic swaths of ornamental grasses, yucca, hardy aloe, silver ponyfoot, and the bold Rootbeer plant (Hoja Santa). Thoughtfully designed planting zones address the transition from deep shade to full sun, ensuring balance and beauty throughout.
